ByteBuster Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how ByteBuster accesses, uses, stores, and handles information on your Android device.
It applies to the ByteBuster application published by IQ-Soft under package name
com.aistudio.bytebuster.
2. Data ByteBuster may access on your device
ByteBuster accesses data only as needed for features you choose to use. Depending on the permissions and Android access you grant, the app may access the following categories locally on your device:
Photos and videos
ByteBuster may access photos and videos to display, organize, preview, compare, identify exact or similar items, create user-selected optimized copies, and carry out cleanup actions you explicitly approve.
Audio, files, and documents
ByteBuster may access audio files, documents, downloads, archives, and other files made available through Android media access, the Storage Access Framework, or folders/providers you explicitly authorize. This access supports browsing, review, organization, duplicate analysis, file details, sharing, and user-approved file operations.
Contacts
If you use ByteBuster's optional Contacts features and grant Contacts permission, ByteBuster may read contact details such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact fields to identify duplicate or incomplete contacts and to perform contact-management actions that you explicitly confirm. Full contact records are processed locally and are not transmitted to IQ-Soft.
Installed-app information and Usage Access
ByteBuster may examine information about visible installed applications for its App Insights features. If you separately grant Android Usage Access, ByteBuster may use locally available usage information such as last-used values to help identify apps that may deserve review. Usage Access is optional and is not required for core storage and media cleanup.
Notification information
If you choose ByteBuster's optional Notification Organization feature and grant notification access, ByteBuster may process notification content and related metadata locally so you can review and organize notifications. Notification text can sometimes contain message-like or other personal information. ByteBuster does not transmit this notification content to IQ-Soft.
App activity generated inside ByteBuster
ByteBuster may keep local records of cleanup, optimization, protection, exclusion, history, settings, and other actions performed within the app. These records support features such as history, recovery guidance, preferences, and continuity between sessions.
3. Data ByteBuster does not currently collect or transmit
In the current release configuration, ByteBuster does not send user data to IQ-Soft or to an IQ-Soft backend. The current app has no developer-controlled Internet data-transmission path and does not use advertising, analytics, remote crash reporting, cloud synchronization, remote configuration, or an account/login service.
ByteBuster does not currently collect or transmit:
- your photos, videos, audio, documents, or file contents;
- your contact records;
- your notification content;
- your app-usage information;
- your cleanup or browsing history inside ByteBuster;
- advertising identifiers or developer-created persistent user identifiers;
- precise or approximate location data;
- financial information, health information, or web-browsing history.
4. How local data is used
Information accessed by ByteBuster is used to provide app functionality, including:
- storage and file analysis;
- media and file browsing, preview, sorting, and filtering;
- exact-duplicate and similar-media analysis;
- user-controlled cleanup, deletion, trash, restore, protection, and exclusion workflows;
- photo and video optimization selected by the user;
- app-storage and app-usage insights where Android makes the information available;
- optional contact cleanup and notification organization;
- local history, recovery information, preferences, and operation state.
5. Sharing and user-directed transfers
ByteBuster does not automatically share your personal or sensitive data with IQ-Soft, advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
ByteBuster does provide actions that you may intentionally use to send or copy information to a destination you select. Examples include Android's Sharesheet, exporting a contacts VCF file, or choosing a folder/document provider through Android's Storage Access Framework. These transfers occur only after your explicit action and are directed to the app, person, folder, storage provider, or service you select. The destination's own privacy practices apply after the information leaves ByteBuster through such a user-directed action.
6. Local storage and retention
ByteBuster stores only local information needed to operate its features. Current local retention behavior includes:
| Local data | Typical retention/control |
|---|---|
| Media/file index and authorization records | Kept locally until refresh/reconciliation, clearing the index, removing an authorized source, revoking access, clearing app data, or uninstalling. |
| Exact/similar fingerprints and hashes | Kept locally until invalidated/reconciled, cleared through app controls, app-data clear, or uninstall. |
| Cleanup/optimization history | Completed history remains locally until cleared. Active or recovery-relevant records may remain while needed to safely complete or resolve an operation. |
| Contact-operation summaries | Limited local summary history; full contact records are not retained as a separate ByteBuster contact database. |
| Notification content | Processed in temporary/session memory for the notification feature and can be cleared by ending access, clearing the feature state, or revoking notification access. |
| App-insight and storage snapshots | Limited local snapshots are retained to provide storage/app trends and can be cleared through ByteBuster's privacy/history controls or by clearing app data. |
| Settings and preferences | Kept locally until changed, reset, app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. |
7. Your choices and controls
You control whether optional features receive access to sensitive data. Depending on your device and feature use, you may:
- grant or deny Android permissions;
- grant or revoke access to selected folders or document providers;
- grant or revoke Usage Access;
- grant or revoke Contacts permission;
- grant or revoke notification access;
- clear local indexes, history, feature data, or recommendations through available ByteBuster controls;
- clear ByteBuster's app data through Android system settings; or
- uninstall ByteBuster to remove the app and its locally stored app data from the device, subject to Android's handling of files that you intentionally exported or created outside the app's private storage.
8. Security
ByteBuster is designed to minimize unnecessary data exposure by processing its core storage, media, file, contact, app-insight, and notification functions locally on the device. The app relies on Android's permission model, scoped storage mechanisms, app sandboxing, and user-authorized access. ByteBuster does not intentionally place personal file contents, contact records, notification text, hashes, or other sensitive local derivatives into developer-controlled online services.
No method of electronic storage is completely risk-free. You should protect your Android device using appropriate device security controls such as a screen lock and keep your operating system reasonably up to date.
9. Accounts
ByteBuster does not currently provide user accounts, registration, or login. IQ-Soft therefore does not maintain a ByteBuster account profile or account-linked cloud data for you.
10. Children's privacy
ByteBuster is a general-purpose storage-management utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because the current app does not transmit user data to IQ-Soft, IQ-Soft does not knowingly maintain a developer-controlled database of children's personal information through ByteBuster.
11. Third-party services and external destinations
The current ByteBuster app does not include advertising, analytics, remote crash-reporting, or cloud backend SDKs that collect app user data on behalf of IQ-Soft. Android system components or third-party apps/providers that you intentionally choose for sharing, opening, exporting, or storing files operate under their own privacy policies.
12. Privacy-policy website hosting
This privacy-policy page is hosted using GitHub Pages. Visiting this web page is separate from using the ByteBuster Android app. GitHub may process standard web-request information, including IP-address information, according to GitHub's own privacy and security practices. IQ-Soft does not add advertising or analytics scripts to this policy page.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
IQ-Soft may update this Privacy Policy when ByteBuster's features or data practices change, when legal or platform requirements change, or when clarification is needed. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy becomes effective. Material changes to ByteBuster's data handling will be reflected in the policy and, where required, in Google Play disclosures or in-app notices.
